Tom and Glenda had a ton of apples on their tree this year. Scratch that, probably closer to five tons. Okay, so that's a little bit of an exaggeration, but it is a lot! I don't really enjoy making or eating applesauce, but go totally gaga for homemade apple cider. We decided that's what we needed to do this year, so Dylan and Tom built a cider press! Glenda bought a chomper thing online and Tom hooked it up to a motor and chaos ensued. We canned almost 25 gallons of apple cider in a few hours. It was fantastic. Now we are really trying to pace ourselves so this cider lasts the winter! (Glenda did end up making some applesauce and apple pie filling. And there are still boxes of apple to decide what to do with!)
We threw all the apple mash in the back of Sparky, so Dylan and I went to dump it and the sunset was gorgeous. I love Eastern Oregon!
Also, my son is too cute for his own good. It kills me.
Olive LOVES to hold her cousin Hendrix! He is pretty much the same size as her, even though they are 3+ years apart. Hendo is just chill about it!
And without further ado, the video of the apple mashing!
(p.s. we did get a better set up going, this was when we first got the motor to work!)
Shem wants to make sure his involvment in creating and building the press is acknowledged ;) lol SOO glad we have that cider - yummmmoh
