I Workout + Question 2

I've been trying really hard to workout every morning. I've been doing this workout program I absolutely LOVE! I started it the beginning of January, and only got about 3 spotty weeks in before I got distracted, so I've started over with renewed vigor! It's a YouTube channel called FitnessBlender and it's a husband/wife duo that I really like. All of the workouts are free, but I spent $15  to purchase a "program" that puts videos on a schedule for me, so it's 8 weeks of balanced workouts that I don't have to plan. The program I'm doing is fat loss for busy people, and every day is 30 minutes or less. I have really been enjoying these workouts and feel like I'm getting better and quicker results than I have doing other things (P90X, 30 Day Shred, Biking, Walking, etc). Anyway, Hendrix knows the routine and like to....help....me workout. Usually it means he is crawling all over me which either a) makes the workout more intense, or b) makes it more dangerous. A few days ago he really wanted to lift my heavy weights and was making me nervous, so I gave him his own "weights" (some blocks) and he had so much fun doing the workouts. He did waaaaay more reps than me!! He also thought he deserved some of my post workout protein shake ;)

He then proceeded to shut me out of the shower........

Saturday was so sunny (but still very chilly!) so we laid in the sun in the living room and pretended we were outside ;) Aren't my children so beautiful??

Nana made chocolate banana bread at 7:30pm (Hendrix's bedtime) and he got to stay up late to help. We LOVE Nana's treats....maybe a little too much. Nana, Papa, and I are all trying to eat healthier and lose some weight and it's difficult with so many yummy things to bake?

Hendrix loves being a big brother so much. He has really enjoyed holding
Eloise lately, and doesn't want to give her up! Luckily he still can't pick her up
by himself or I know we would have some spills off the bed or out of the swing!

Question 2: When and where were you born? Describe your home, your neighborhood, and the town you grew up in.

Dylan: I was born May 21, 1989 in La Grande, Oregon. My "childhood" home is the one my parents currently live in, in Haines, Oregon. We moved here when I was 8. (We lived in Wallowa, OR for a total of 6 years and Puyallup, WA for 1 year before Haines). Haines is a small town, 300 people. We are about 10 minutes outside of Baker City, which is where we go for church and groceries. I went to Haines Elementary, and Baker City for 6 grade on up. Haines is a quiet little town but offered a lot of freedom. I could ride my bike around for hours without my parents having to worry about me.

Heather: I was born on March 21, 1990 in Enumclaw, Washington. My parents lived on the Enumclaw property until late last year (2015) when they sold it and moved to Camano Island and are currently building a house on my sister Lisa's property. The house was a single wide trailer that my parents had put an addition on, and we upgraded to a triple wide manufactured home (on the same property) when I was 8 (right after the youngest, Scott, was born). We lived on 5 acres and it had a TON of trees and I swear I climbed every tree on that property. We lived in the country just out of town and had 3 neighbors that shared part of our driveway but each had their own 5 acre plot. It took us 8 minutes to drive to church. Enumclaw is in the foothills of Mt. Rainier. We enjoyed tons of hiking and camping.

Hendrix + Eloise: Hendrix was born April 7, 2014 and Eloise was born November 6, 2015. Hendrix and Eloise were both born in La Grande, in the hospital there. We lived in our first home on 13th street. It was a 3 bed, 2 bath, ranch style home that we sold a few months after Eloise was born. There was a park just a block down the street that we frequented, and it was just a couple blocks from campus which was really nice for when Dylan and I were going to school.

Biker Boy

We ordered the bike on Monday and it was here on Tuesday! I waited until Dylan got home from work before we gave it to him so Dylan could be a part of it too. Hendrix LOVES it!! It's just barely too tall for him, so he likes to sit on the step. We put his boots on and that helped. He has already figured out how to bail when it starts going down! I can't wait to take him outside with it :)

President's Day

Dylan had Monday off of work because of the holiday. We took a much needed, relaxing day. Dylan went out and shot his new 1911 (side story, I sent him to the store for diapers and he came home with a new pistol. To be fair it's a gun he has wanted for years and we had already decided he could get it.....he just happened to find the exact one he wanted at BiMart, where the diapers are haha). I washed and folded like 6 loads of laundry. Pretty much every piece of clothing, bedding, and towel we have right now. Hendrix and Dylan were playing on the bed while I was folding laundry and Dylan kept pulling things out of his ear. He thought he was being sneaky, but Hendrix wasn't fooled. He knew that it really started out behind Dad's head!! He still thought it was hilarious though (Hendrix thinks Dylan is the funniest thing ever). Anyway, this morning I'm in our room feeding Lou and Hendrix wants me to pull EVERYTHING out of his ear. I had pulled out everything that was in reach, and then Hendrix proceeded to show me the "correct" way of doing it....with his toothbrush. So....there might be some ear wax on that now ;) good thing we just got him a new one!

52 Questions, 52 Weeks

I really really want to work on keeping our blog better updated. I like that I have a place to dump all my pictures but I feel like posting just once a month or every other month I'm missing out on all the little stories and things that I really want to be documenting! I got this list of 52 questions from Family Search and hopefully this will help motivate me to write each week! So, since I'm on anyway, I'm going to chat about what's been going on, and then answer my question :)

I mentioned in my last post that Hendrix wants a bike so bad. When he sees a bike he reaches for it and wants to play. He sits on toy cars (from the small hot wheels variety up to that little bus he can actually sit on) and tries to cruise around. He has a toy push car thing that he can sit and ride on too, but I feel like he is outgrowing it. He has a book with a picture of a clown falling off a unicycle on it (the picture is such a minor part of the story and only like 1.5 inches tall....) and he flips right to that page and says "peese! peese!" while he tries to grab the bike out of the book. He did that again this morning to Dylan and it was so cute we couldn't resist. SO, we just bought him a balance bike :) we were going to wait until his birthday, but it's a healthy, wholesome activity that encourages growth, independence, and he just wanted one so bad. It should get here on Wednesday!! Stay tuned for pictures ;)

Said picture of clown falling off his unicycle. Side note, we LOVE these Muddle & Match books :)

Question 1: What is your full name? Explain why your parents gave it to you

Dylan Sigurd Isaacson My parents really liked the name Dylan, it was a top name on their list, and they also really liked Bob Dylan, so that was a bonus. Sigurd is my Dad's Brother's name, and they, of course, love him. And Sigurd is a name from our Scandinavian heritage as well (and Sigurd is a Volsong, who slayed Fafnir the dragon, so that's cool).

Heather Rae Harston My middle name is after my paternal grandpa (Ray Richards Harston). If I'm correct, my mom liked the name Hillary, but had a friend with a little girl named Hillary, and liked the way "Heather Rae" sounded similar. I went by Heather Rae until about 5th grade (and even still am Heather Rae to a lot of my family :)

Hendrix Thomas Isaacson When Dylan and I started dating he told me his first son's name was going to be Hendrix. I thought that was kind of silly, because I feel like girls might dream up baby names but I didn't know of any boys that did :) Dylan was really inspired by Jimi Hendrix when he went to the Experience the Music Project (EMP) in Seattle when he was in Middle School (13 I think). That was a turning point for his music. He came home and played his guitar until his fingers bled and continued to play. He practiced and honed that talent, and now (I'm not just saying this because I'm his wife) is one of the most talented musicians I've ever heard. If he wanted to, he could go professional with his talent. Anyway, that is where Hendrix came from (Hendrickson is also a family name, so we liked that association as well). Thomas is after his paternal grandpa (Thomas Lee Isaacson).

Eloise Magdelena Isaacson We liked the classic sounding names and wanted something that wasn't common but wasn't too crazy or a made up name (seriously it seems like so many people are just drawing letters out of a hat and putting them together to make a name.....) we went with Eloise and did NOT want to call her Ellie, and went with Louie or Lou or Maggie Lou for nick names :) Magdelena is a Great Great Grandma's middle name (paternal side, we like the Scandinavian names).

January + February

More fun things from the past couple of weeks! This finally gets me all caught up :)

Hendrix wants a bike so bad......he rides anything and everything with wheels.

SMOOOOOTHIEEEEEE

Eloise started to roll over! She doesn't do it every time, but pretty frequently rolls from her
belly to her back. She almost has her back to her belly figured out too! This was the last week in January, so almost 3 months old. I can't believe she figured it out so soon!

Hendrix LOVES being a big brother. Lately he wants to hold Louie all the time.
He is really good at making her laugh. She totally adores him!

A friend gave us a bunch of clothes for Lou. Hendrix was helping me
go through them and found this hat and put it on all by himself. He loves it.

I just cannot get over those cheeks

We were missing Dad while he was at work all day so had to send him some pictures. It was a "work in out PJ's" kinda day for me ;)

I think I've posted about this before but Hendo LOVES to get zipped up in
a jacket, particularly this one.

Fascinated by water. Kept saying "wow! wow! whoa!"

Sometimes Eloise swings here when I'm making dinner (she hates being alone)
she wasn't content in the big swing, because she was awake and couldn't see anyone!
I grabbed this one and set it up and Hendrix immediately claimed it. Luckily Lou had
fallen asleep in the other one! Hendrix sat there, drinking his (coconut) milk, swinging himself,
while I cooked. I love this kid so much!
There was an Usborne Books & More regional training I wanted to go to in Seattle, so we decided to leave early and make a little family vacation out of it. We were going to leave Wednesday, but when we checked the weather Tuesday morning decided we would rather leave on Tuesday. We scrambled to pack and get everything done so we could get on the road! We had such a fun time! Lisa's family hadn't met Eloise yet, and it was really fun to spend time with them. My UBAM meeting went really well too!! It was a really fun week :)

Put a show on the computer to keep Hendrix occupied while we hurried
to pack. Look how he is holding his hands!!

Nana bought these shoes for Hendrix off the classifieds. They are too big for him but he
really likes them. He brought them to Dylan to put on and wore them all morning while we
packed, then wouldn't take them off when it was time to go! We decided since we would
be in the car all day anyway he could wear them. I love that he is starting to have more of
an opinion and knows what he likes! He is communicating better....but still doesn't really say real words.

We stopped in Union on our way out and saw Great Grandma and Great Grandpa.
Eloise had nothing but laughs for GGpa!

We made it! Catching a quick nap while the kids were at school.

Completely fascinated by the fire.

Eloise loved staring out into the ocean.

Johnson's have goats, chickens, and rabbits. Hendrix had
so much fun playing with his cousins and the animals!

This massive ball has just been hanging out in our car since we moved....and was
still there when we went to Washington. Hendrix liked to hold it in the car, even though
it meant he couldn't see anything any more.
Dylan was on a conference call for work so plugged in some headphones and
had some much needed snuggle time with Lou.

Had a blast at regionals! Finally met some of the girls on my team
in person. Also, got my "readers gonna read" shirt I'm pretty happy about :)

Left most the kids home and went out to eat!

On the drive home Hendrix wanted to watch a movie. Usually we just put something on
for him but don't turn on the sound and he is just fine. This time he was getting upset because
he couldn't hear it, so I put the headphones on him. This is his face when he figured out he could
hear his movie now.

Pit stop to nurse. Pulled off the road next to a field and the boys had fun chasing each other around.
It was a gorgeous day to be traveling!

Back in Oregon! Hendrix wrapped himself up in a blanket
for some Phineas and Ferb
Making tractor sounds and eating chex out of his truck
I was sitting on our bed nursing Eloise. As soon as I was done Hendrix pulled her off my lap and slowly laid back with her. He just wanted some cuddles. A couple of times I asked if he was done and if he wanted me to take her and he said "no. no. no." and waved his hand like he was pushing me away. It was so incredibly sweet. I hope they continue to nurture this relationship as they get older!

Helping sister play the Uke

Hanging out with Aunt Carly! Louie was all smiles and words and giggles until the camera came out

Hendo loves playing on the entry mat.....
Washing Louie's hair!
Hendrix had a couple of days where he wouldn't eat anything unless I put hummus on it. I'm not sure how that happened....anyway he had a hummus banana, hummus & jam sandwich, and hummus chips. I'm glad he didn't make me put hummus in our smoothie.

He made a mess with the smoothie (usually he does alright!) and I decided it would be easier to just throw him in the tub!

Lou was so bored just waiting for Hendo to be done splashing

Hendrix wouldn't get out of the tub (seriously he loves the water!) so I let it drain.
Even after all the water was gone he still didn't want to get out!! He kept pulling
on the faucet and saying "peese! peese!"

Oh look......a hummus waffle for breakfast

Everyone had to leave for work this morning and I was working while both kids were
sleeping. The pups didn't want to be alone downstairs so came and took up the only
semi-empty floor space in my entire room.
I was getting cabin fever so I packed up the kids and spent the afternoon at the Carlson's!
Max is not a snuggler, but he decided to let me hold him for a while! He was really good at Dominion.

We were heading to the Carlson's the next day for lunch and were just about ready to go
when Louie woke up and I needed to feed her. Hendrix asked (in his own little language)
if he could watch a show and brought me the remotes. He even pointed to which show he
wanted to watch. This Wild Kratts episode they were with wolves and Hendrix would run up to
the TV and howl with them.

After church we were changing out of our church clothes and Hendrix told
Dylan he had to go potty (he has yet to do anything in the potty....) and for some
reason Dylan thought this was a good idea. I'm not sure why he put the potty on the bed
but it was one time I was grateful Hendrix decided not to use it.
