My New Toy

Dylan LOOOOOVES his apple crisp. I don't mind making it for him but it takes a while to peel and cut all those apples! So he got me an apple peeler/slicer/corer. It took practically no time at all to get those apples into perfect pieces.

Here is the recipe, which I got from my mother-in-law Glenda!

In a 9x13 pan mix:
1/2 c hot water
1/2 c sugar
1 1/2 tsp cinnamon

Peel and slice thin about 8 tart apples (I like to use granny smith. Also you don't need as many if you get the giant ones, the way Washington sells them ;). Lay them in the pan.

Topping:
1 1/2 c white flour
1 c sugar
12 tbls margarine (3/4c)
Cut margarine into flour and sugar until crumbly. Cover apples with topping and bake at 375 until golden, about 1 hour.

  2. You guys are so great! The problem with your peeler/corer, dear Heather, is that now you'll have to make it for me, the best Father-in-law you have. However, if you were wise, you'd remove the recipe before Glenda finds out you posted it! AND next time let us see your lovely smile in your pictures. If necessary, you may also post some of Dylan (if necessary!).

  5. Confused about my comment, Carly? Really? #1: I am the best Father-in-Law Heather has; #2: Such a recipe is worth MILLIONS of dollars to the right entrepreneur. MILLIONS!!!; #3: Heather is so pretty, why would we not want to see her lovely smile?' #4: Conversely, why would we want to see Dylan?? It's none-too-confusing to me, and really makes perfect sense. MILLIONS!!

  6. Heather, when someone asks you what I want for my birthday or something, it's the peeler/corer that you have! Spread the word! Or if I don't have it in 4 years when you have my name for Christmas, that's what I want! Love you sister!
